CANTON -- Meet local organic growers Dulli Tengeler and Bob Wagner for a farm tour and info update for folks who want to learn more about Birdsfoot Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
The event will be held Saturday, May 28, 4 p.m., at Birdsfoot Farm, 1263 County Route 25. Admission is free.
The CSA delivers a weekly box of fresh picked organic produce to each member from mid-June until late October. Visitors will see a how they manage an intensive, diverse & sustainable cropping system on two acres, with time for questions on techniques used, on food stamp payment, and other options like Garden Share subsidies for low income households.
“Don’t miss this is a great opportunity to begin shifting away from processed food to eating healthy, affordable local produce, despite your busy lives” Wagner said.
“2016 is off to a great start in our veggie fields and new high-tunnel,” Tengeler said. “We’ll have plenty of fresh lettuce, spinach and snap peas by mid-June for our members and the Canton farmers’ market.”
Soon after the early summer crops start coming in including carrots, baby beets, zucchini, broccoli, and more. That will be followed by heirloom tomatoes, organic potatoes, garlic, beans and more.
