CANTON – To help “locavores” shop for local products, plan meals, and prepare local vegetable dishes, the Cornell University Cooperative Extension associations of Northern New York will hold Eating Local Yet? summer workshops three days in June at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.
Class instructors include chefs, restaurateurs and nutrition educators.
Activities will include cutting up a chicken, making soup stock, learning how to stretch your food dollar with different cuts of meat, and trying latest tips for cooking, storing and serving tasty vegetables.
The workshops will run from 6 to 9 p.m. each evening as follows:
Week 1: Shopping, Meal Planning and Cooking with Local Foods--Wednesday, June 15
Week 2: All About Meat--Wednesday, June 22
Week 3: All About Vegetables--Tuesday, June 28
Reservations are required. Participants can attend one workshop for $30 or all three workshops for $75.
