CRANBERRY LAKE -- Throughout the month of May, Clifton Community Library in Cranberry Lake will join the world-wide festivities to celebrate the wedding of HRH Prince Henry of Wales to Ms. Meghan Markle.
All month long, the library will host a display of memorabilia pertaining to Britain’s Royal Family from librarian Kate Kosior’s personal collection.
These include the autographs of Paul Burrell (Princess Diana’s butler), Sarah Ferguson (the former Duchess of York), Charles Spencer (an autographed copy of his speech from Princess Diana’s funeral), and Princess Diana herself.
Other items will include past royal wedding trinkets, books, bobble heads, Diana’s famed Christie’s catalog, and more!
On Saturday, May 5 at noon, the library will host a free English Country Dance Class. Participants will learn traditional dances from the 1700’s and 1800’s from local dance master George Cherepon. No partner or experience necessary. Punch and cookies will be served.
Immediately following the tea demonstration, at approximately 11 a.m., the library will screen the classic film “The Princess Bride” starring Cary Elwes and Robin Wright. The movie is free of charge. Attendees may enjoy an English high tea, including finger sandwiches, scones, and fruit for a suggested donation of $5.\
Clifton Community Library is located at 7171 State Highway 3. All events will take place in the community room at the library.
The phone number is 315-848-3256 and the email is clklib@ncls.org.
The library is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday and Wednesday evenings 6 to 8 p.m.
