POTSDAM – Cinema 10 continues its fall 2010 season on Monday, Nov. 29 with a showing of “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” a 2010 American/British documentary about street art.
This is a film that offers a fresh and humorous perspective on the world of graffiti art.
Is the film based on a true story? Or is it piece of subversive street art in itself?
In a real sense, it does not matter.
The film succeeds in its promise to be a humorous opportunity to reconsider what you know about art and what you think should count as art.
“As the documentary morphs into a riddle about art in the marketplace,” says Joe Williams of the St. Louis Dispatch, “the eyes of the beholder get crossed, and the dizziness is part of the fun.”
Films are shown on Mondays at 7:15 p.m. in the Roxy Theater in Potsdam.
Tickets are $4.50 general/$35 season or $3.50 student/senior/$25 season.
