MORRISTOWN – A Good Cancer Detectives Street Theatre Performance entitled “Vietnam War Veterans Should Receive Cancer Risk Reduction Education from Government Public Health Agencies” will be held Tuesday, June 14 at 5 p.m. in the Morristown War Memorial Park.
The performance raises public awareness on the subject of persistent organic pollutants (POPs) exposure cancer risk.
Cancer Action NY advocates for the creation of POPs exposure reduction educational outreach programs within government public health agencies at the county, state and federal levels of government.
Soldiers who participated in the Vietnam War received exposures to POPs including the dioxin contaminant in Agent Orange and the dioxins and PCBs emitted by military operations fires.
These POPs exposures have imposed increased cancer risk on the military men and women.
