POTSDAM – A new store with sports-themed products is opening on Market Street, perhaps by the end of the month.
Tom Bronson of Colton is opening The Cornerstore at 1 Market St. with his daughter, Alison Bronson and nephew Dan Bronson.
The store will sell sports novelties such as games, cards, T-shirts, hats, toys, collectibles and posters.
They will carry items from the major sports teams from MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA, NASCAR and NCAA.
They will fill about 1,200 square feet at 1 Market Street, where the chamber of commerce office was.
Bronson says that building owner Marc Leuthold and contractor Scott Langlois “have done a nice job refurbishing the store.”
“It’s been on my mind for a while what I would do when I retired,” Bronson says. He retired from UPS just last December. “I’ve been thinking about it for a couple of years.
His daughter Alison has a degree in marketing from Keuka College and managed a business in Keuka Lake, Bronson says.
Bronson says that when the store opens, they plan to be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 to 4 on Saturday.
The telephone number at the store is 274-0113.
