POTSDAM -- The Wireless Zone of Potsdam, a Verizon wireless retailer in the Price Chopper Plaza on Market Street, has been remodeled, gained nearly 400 square feet of selling space, and has another salesperson.

Store manager Mike MacConnell says a fifth person has been hired and trained and is on the job after they knocked down a wall and made room for a fourth point-of-sale station.

MacConnell says the move was spurred by “a high influx of traffic.”

That influx is at least in part due to the closure of Northern Music and Video downtown late last year and the more recent closure of Radio Shack, in the same plaza, both of which were Verizon Wireless dealers.

“We’re definitely working to accommodate the additional traffic. We’re aiming to take on what we need to do,” he said.

MacConnell said more improvements are to come soon.

Store hours are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
