NORWOOD -- Local massage therapist Jennifer Murphy recently opened a massage location at 20 ½ Main St. and is starting to take new clients.
Murphy is a Licensed Massage Therapist and a Physical Therapist Assistant who has been practicing as a Physical Therapist Assistant since 1996 and a Massage Therapist since 1998.
“I specialize in injury care and therapeutic massage especially for chronic pain clientele,” Murphy said.
Most of her chronic pain clientele are dealing with neck or back issues, fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue, according to Murphy.
Clients do not have to be dealing with any medical issues to schedule an appointment with Murphy, as she offers a variety of massages anyone would benefit from.
“I offer full body massage, deep tissue massages which are proven to improve your overall health,” Murphy said.
Regular massages have been shown to increase flexibility, reduce muscle spasms and pain, improve circulation and relieve tension, she said.
Murphy says she has taken several continuing education courses through John F. Barnes for myofascial release therapy, which is a soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain.
She is also a physical therapist assistant for Canton-Potsdam Hospital in the Canton EJ Noble Building.
“I travelled to clients homes to help them since 1999, but now I have my own massage room to work on them at.” Murphy said.
Her business is located at Main Street Chocolates, downtown Norwood. Appointments can be made on Thursdays and Saturdays by appointment only. No walk-ins.
The cost is $65 per hour or $35 for a half hour. She accepts cash or credit card.
