MASSENA — The Town Council on Wednesday voted to spend $4,500 for WPBS to create announcements for fishing in Massena.
Don Meissner, who is paid by the town to market Massena at large sportsmen shows, has his own show on the network, Fishing Behind the Lines.
Town Supervisor Joseph Gray said the town will have rights to use the 15-second ads themselves, including online.
Prior to voting in favor of spending the money, one of the councilmen expressed reservations about the expenditure.
“I’m scared, how’s this going to benefit us? Is this going to be better than social media?” Councilman Tom Miller said.
“It could easily be used on social media,” Town Supervisor Joseph Gray answered.
The town also on Wednesday voted to give Meissner a new $25,000 contract to market the town at fishing shows.
