Massena and Ogdensburg have tied for eighth place on an Ohio-based corporate real estate magazine’s list of top U.S. "micropolitan areas," ranked by number of new or expanded corporate facility projects.
Site Selection magazine says the municipalities have combined seven ongoing projects. They tie with nearby Plattsburgh, along with Dyersburg, Tenn., Seneca, S.C. and Tupelo, Miss.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, “a micropolitan area contains an urban core of at least 10,000 residents but less than 50,000 in total population.” Typically, micro areas are small towns located in largely rural counties well outside the boundaries of metropolitan areas, the Site Selection article says.
