Dr. Vecchio is a graduate of Colgate University and received his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec. He completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the McGill Teaching Hospitals and is dual-board certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine in gastroenterology and internal medicine.
He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, of the American Gastroenterology Association, of the American College of Gastroenterology, and is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
Vecchio has 38 years of practice experience and more than 30 years of teaching medical students, medical residents, and GI fellows at the University of Vermont Medical Center. He has participated as an investigator on numerous clinical research studies and has been an invited guest speaker throughout Vermont and in Massachusetts.
Vecchio has a special interest in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn's disease, and ulcerative colitis. He also has experience in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), celiac disease, and performs diagnostic and therapeutic upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. He works collaboratively with his patients to manage diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
