OGDENSBURG-Funeral services for William (Bill) M. Fraser, 81, of Ogdensburg will be held on Thursday, April, 24, 2025 at 12 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home with Deacon Mark Lalonde officiating. A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Eel Weir, with Military Honors. Mr. Fraser passed away on April 19, 2025.
Arrangements are under the director of Frary Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Ogdensburg.
He was born to parents Jeannette and Charles, on December 22 1943 in Ogdensburg, New York.
William, better known to all as Bill, graduated from O. F. A. in 1961. He went on to join the Air Force in 1962, serving during the Vietnam conflict. He was stationed stateside, working on planes as an Airman 2nd Class - EB - Bomber Navigation Tech - from 1962-1966 In the 449th Bomber Wing – SAC. After the Air Force, Bill worked for Alcoa until 1969.
He then started work as a cable technician for New Channels, which would go on to become Time Warner Cable, before retiring, after 30 yrs of service. Bill later braved the education system again, earning a degree in Electrical Construction and Maintenance from SUNY Canton, in 2001. He was a long-standing member of The American Legion for 53 yrs. First in Ogdensburg and then, after that location closed, as a member at Lisbon Post 1342.
William met Diane Cummings and on September 11, 1971 they were married in Ogdensburg NY at St. Mary cathedral. Together they raised 2 children.
He could often be found at Phillips Diner, having coffee with friends and joking with the waitresses. When he wasn't at Phillips, he was with his friend Don at Performance Plus, working on cars and shooting the breeze. He also enjoyed going to the Silver Leaf diner with his wife, puttering around the house, and spending time with his children. But most especially, time with his grandson.
William is survived by his wife, Diane of 54 yrs, son, Christopher and his companion, Angela Walker, daughter Karen Fraser, grandson, Adon Hunter and a myriad of nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Jeanette Griffith) Fraser, sisters Kathleen Lassial, and Elizabeth and brothers Charles, James, and Lawrence Fraser and his Uncle Jack Griffith.
