LISBON - Walter E. Fields, age 84, of Lisbon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral services.
Walter is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon; two sons, Ernie (Amy) Fields and Steven (Dawn) Fields, both of Lisbon; two daughters, Kathleen (Keith) Pierce of Ogdensburg and Sally (Tim) Amo of Lisbon; a sister, Joyce (Marvin) Galloway, Indian Land, SC; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald "Joseph" Fields.
Born on October 4, 1940 in Ogdensburg, a son of the late William and Laura (Partridge) Fields. He attended Lisbon School and married Sharon J. Barkley on July 8, 1960.
During Walter’s career, he worked as a truck driver for the Town of Lisbon, the NYS Highway Department, Edson Martin, McAdam Cheese, and Walmart, from which he retired in 2012. In his free time, Walter enjoyed woodworking, reading, camping, attending NASCAR races, both in person and on TV, and spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was also an exempt volunteer fireman in Lisbon.
