To the Editor:
While Ms. Paige’s private comments were unquestionably in poor taste and show bad judgment, the campaign against her would carry more weight if those waging it had not spent the last eight years at best ignoring, and in many cases actively condoning, the vicious rhetoric emanating from the former president himself.
It is Mr Trump, not Ms. Paige, who is most responsible for the degradation of civic discourse in the United States. Let us hope the American people have the good sense never to let him anywhere near the Oval Office again.
