Thomas Edward Moore, 65, formerly of Morristown

MORRISTOWN -- A celebration of life will be held for Thomas E. Moore from 1:30-4:00pm on July 6 at the Moore, Coventry, and Pidgeon homes on the St. Lawrence River at 3 and 4 J.W. Smithers Road in Morristown. All are welcome.

Thomas Edward Moore, 65, previously of Morristown, NY, passed away suddenly on April 5, 2024, at his residence in Rome, NY. He went home to God and was greeted by his loving parents, Shirley and Michael; and his brother, Mike; as well as his loving grandparents, Thomas and Marie Callahan and Edward and Hazel Moore.

Tom was born in Ogdensburg to Michael and Shirley (Callahan) Moore on his dad’s birthday, August 1, 1958. He graduated from Morristown Central School in 1976.

Tom honorably served four years in the army, splitting most of his time between Germany and Ft. Riley, Kansas.

Tommy was known for his elegant penmanship. He was a talented cartoonist and a wonderful cook. He was a handyman with cable and anything electric.

He expressed deep empathy for others, treating everyone with dignity and respect. Through the years, he was an incredible father to his dogs and cats.

Tom is survived by his siblings, Colleen (Fred) Pidgeon, Cathleen (John) Bell, Maureen Mazer, Kevin (Melissa Morgan) Moore, Timothy (Linda) Moore, and Karen (Michael) Coventry, his sister-in-law, Ann Fenlong, his aunts, Patricia Durant and Sr. Cathleen Moore, SSJ, and his uncle and godfather, Daniel Moore. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Tommy had a brilliant mind and a most compassionate, gentle, and loving soul, deepened by a strong faith which helped him through his struggles, especially after a tragic car accident in his twenties.

He gave encouragement to all who knew and loved him. He was known for his fantastic sense of humor which brought smiles and laughter to all.
