Theresa B. Roberts, 95, Massena

MASSENA - Theresa B. Roberts, age 95 formerly of Massena passed away on February 16 th , 2025.

Most recently she was a resident of St. Peter’s Nursing Home in Albany, NY but had spent most of her life as a housewife in Massena.

She is survived by two sons, Richard J. Roberts of Plattsburgh and Mark J (and Deborah) Roberts of Niskayuna, NY, four grandchildren: Jackie Davis of Watertown, Mark W. Roberts (and Stacey Kocsis) of Massena, Sister Mary Michael Roberts VSM of Toledo, Ohio, and Grace Roberts of Niskayuna,  four Great-Grandchildren: Alisha Allen, Destiny Davis, and Cora Whitfield all of Watertown, Madison Roberts, Massena and Great-Great-Grandchildren, Adeline, Amelia and Jackson Allen, also of Watertown and many nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews throughout the country.

Born in Burke, NY on June 5 th, 1929 to the late Moses J. Batraw and Mabel Ranger Batraw she moved to Massena in 1936 with her family and was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church for nearly 80 years until moving to Albany in late 2015. She attended St. Mary’s School, graduating in 1947 and was employed by the J.J. Newberry Department Store in Massena from 1947 to 1951. She married William J. Roberts in St. Mary’s Church on January, 20 th, 1951. In years past she was active in the Massena Chapter of TOPS 272, an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing cards, socializing, cooking, spending time with her family, and was an avid dog-lover.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, William J. Roberts, her son, Kent W. Roberts and his wife, Joy LaValley Roberts, one sister, Irene Batraw Baxter, one half -sister, Eloise Batraw Jock, one step sister, Viola Jarvis Dame, and her step-mother, Sadie Barcomb Batraw.

Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson Funeral Home in Massena. A Mass of the Christian Burial and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Massena.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions can be made to the Massena Humane Society in her memory.
