MASSENA – A teenage dirt bike rider crashed into a Border Patrol safety barrier on Seaway International Bridge Nov.7.
Troopers say they responded to a personal-injury accident at 2:44 a.m. at U.S. Customs and Border Protection Port of Entry and investigation determined a black dirt bike, operated by an 18-year-old female from Akwesasne, ON, was traveling south on Seaway International Bridge in the northbound lane in the town of Massena.
The operator reportedly failed to stop at the U.S. Customs Border checkpoint and continued to drive south against traffic.
Border Patrol officers allegedly put the safety barrier in place and the operator struck the barrier, causing her to eject from the dirtbike.
The subject was taken to Massena Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation, officers said.
