OSWEGATCHIE — A teen from Guatemala was charged with attempted rape Oct. 30, according to state police.
Troopers said they arrested the 17-year-old male from Guatemala for first-degree attempted rape, forcible touching, two counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument, and second-degree criminal impersonation.
State police responded to McGowan Road Oct. 30 around 3 a.m. for a sexual assault complaint. An investigation reportedly determined the 17-year-old male forcibly grabbed and forcibly attempted to take the victim's clothing off while sexually assaulting the victim.
The victim was able to get away from the 17-year-old male and called a roommate to come back to the residence, officers said.
Troopers and U.S Customs and Border Protection officers continued to investigate the incident and determined the 17-year-old male provided false documentation and false identity.
The subject was arrested and arraigned in the St. Lawrence County Youth Court, where he was remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $750 cash bail.
The teen was taken to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection office for further questioning and processing.
He will be held in a juvenile detention center until further notice, police said.
State police were assisted by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department.
