POTSDAM — Village board members have signed off on the new taxi rates in the municipality, but also point out the availability of other cheaper transportation services in the community.
The board approved the new rates at its June 16th meeting for taxi service within village limits offered by the company Taxi Zero owned by John Meyers.
The new rates will be in effect June 16, 2025-April 30, 2026, from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. and by reservation. Rates are for one-way transportation and are the same if the pickup and drop off locations are reversed, the resolution said.
The rates are as follows:
“I had asked the mayor earlier about the cost of this, and I do understand that some of these were set some time ago and actually looks like the rates have been flat somewhat, which is good news,” said Trustee Ryan Deuel. “But they do still appear rather on the high end and I would just point out that there are other services available to residents, including a public bus system that's actually become a little more robust over the years.”
“I do agree, I think it would be beneficial for us to have a clear menu of options of what kind of services surround the village of Potsdam to get in and out. Because I know there are other services as well,” said Trustee Lynzie Schulte.
