Posted

OGDENSBURG -- Mrs. Suzanne Arlene Galligan of Oakland Valley, NY passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and children at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY.

She was 64.

She was born March 6, 1961, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of the late John Barkley and the late Carole McGillicuddy Barkley.

Suzanne married her high school sweetheart, Vincent C. Galligan, Jr. 43 years ago on August 15, 1981, in Otisville, NY. Together they built a beautiful homestead and raised their family along the banks of the Neversink River in Oakland Valley.

Suzanne was a licensed cosmetologist out of high school and she spent many years cutting hair for family and friends.

She was a member of St. Mary’s R.C. Church in Port Jervis where she also spent many years as a CCD teacher.

A family statement read:
There was no greater fulfillment in her life than to be surrounded by her family. Her family was her breath of life.

Hun, Babe, Mom, Grandma, Gram cherished her family. She loved all holidays that gathered her family including, Easter Egg hunts, Thanksgiving gingerbread houses, and Christmas dinner.

Mom would always call you on your birthday and remind others to call, too.

She loved her husband, eternally, along with her four children, Vinny, Scott, Sarah, and Patrick.

She was blessed with eight beautiful grandchildren that were the light of her world, and they will forever miss her.

Like she was with her four kids, she was so proud of all her grandchildren and their accomplishments. Whether on the stage, on the course, on the field, on the ice, in the arena, she was their biggest (loudest) fan.

She cared for her grandchildren full-time early in their lives because that was the only way she could ensure they were loved and safe.

Mom had the biggest heart for anyone who needed an extra hand, she was so giving and was so grateful to those that cared for her.

Mom showed her love for others by cooking and baking for them. If you were in her home or in her life, she was going to feed you.

Many memories were made with her family at their camp in Norfolk, NY, that she has transformed from a duck camp to a family oasis.

To her dear friend, Marion, thank you for always being there for her.

The family wants to thank all the medical professionals who, for over many years, gave Mom the opportunity to live life to the fullest.

The family also thanks the ICU team at Garnet Health, especially Dr. Galindo, and the SICU team at Westchester Medical for doing everything possible and being the most caring and compassionate professionals.

Suzanne is survived by her Husband: Vincent C. Galligan Jr. and her beloved dog, Cavan, at home. Her son, Vincent C. Galligan, III and his wife, Jeni of Otisville, NY; son, Scott Galligan and his wife, Michelle of Oswegatchie, NY; daughter, Sarah Mootz and her husband, Chad of Jeffersonville, NY and son, Patrick Galligan and his fiancé, Laura of Carthage, TN.
