POTSDAM — SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music will feature its talented students and world-renowned faculty artists in a series of upcoming live performances to kick off the Fall 2025 semester.
Dr. Christine Hoerning, clarinet, will present a faculty recital on Monday, Sept. 29 at 7:30 p.m., in the Sara M. Snell Music Theater.
The Crane Jazz Ensemble, conducted by SeungYoung Hong, will perform a concert titled "Tone Parallel," featuring Duke Ellington's 1943 extended jazz work, "Black, Brown and Beige," on Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 7:30 p.m., in the Proscenium Theater, located in the Performing Arts Center.
The Crane Symphonic Band and Crane Concert Band will take the stage for a joint concert on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 7:30 p.m., in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall. The Symphonic Band, conducted by Dr. Brian K. Doyle, will open the program with works by Katahj Copley, Julie Giroux, Malcolm Arnold, Darry Daehn, Fisher Tull and Robert Nathaniel Dett. Led by Jill Roberts, the Concert Band will perform pieces by Copley, Carlos Chavez, Eric Whitacre, Shuying Li, David Maslanka and John Mackey.
The schedule will continue with a series of evening concerts at 7:30 p.m. in Snell Theater:
The Crane Mariachi Ensemble (Mariachi Los Osos Del Norte) will bring traditional sounds to the PAC's Proscenium Theater, with a rousing concert on Friday, Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m.
