St. Lawrence County law enforcement agencies will join statewide efforts to curtail impaired driving during Super Bowl weekend 2025.
The statewide STOP-DWI Crackdown efforts start on Feb. 9 and conclude on Feb. 10
“Super Bowl Weekend is historically a deadly period for impaired driving.” Melissa Button, St. Lawrence County Special Traffic Programs Coordinator said in a prepared statement Wednesday.
To prevent injuries and save lives, law enforcement officers across New York State and STOP-DWI programs will be participating in special efforts to keep impaired drivers off the roads.
If you’re attending a Super Bowl party or watching the game at a sports bar or restaurant:
Designate a sober driver, or plan another way to get home safely before you begin drinking.
If you don’t have a designated driver, then ask a sober friend for a ride home; call a cab, friend, or family member to come and get you.
Never let friends drive if they have had too much to drink.
If you’re hosting a Super Bowl party:
Make sure all your guests designate a sober driver in advance, or arrange for alternate transportation to ensure they get home safely.
Serve food and include non-alcoholic beverages at the party.
Allow guests to “crash” for the night, if they have had too much to drink.
Do not serve alcohol to minors. If an underage person drinks and drives, the person who served the alcohol can be held liable for any damage, injury, or death caused by the underage driver.
