CANTON — Fifth year forward Anna Segedi has been named the St. Lawrence University women's hockey captain for the upcoming 2024-25 season, with Kristina Bahl, Abby Hustler and Melissa Jefferies serving as alternate captains.
"Congratulations to our captains this year," said head coach Chris Wells. "They are experienced and have garnered the support of their teammates."
"Anna, Abby and Kristina will be able to use last season as leaders and apply to this upcoming year. Jeffy had a big role as a leader last year without wearing a letter and will now be able build on the relationships she had in 23-24!"
Last season, Segedi ranked third, scoring 18 goals and adding 21 assists for 39 points on the season. She scored six power play goals, six game-winning goals and two overtime game winners and was a Third-Team All-ECAC honoree.
Hustler led the Scarlet and Brown with 24 goals and 31 assists for 55 points on the season. She tallied 12 power play goals and five game winners. She ended the season ranked second nationally with 12 power play goals on the season, and ranks seventh with 0.62 goals per game, 10th with 1.41 points per game, and 13th with 0.79 assists. Her 12 power play goals ties Rebecca Russell for first in the Saints' record books from 2004-05. Hustler was named a Patty Kaz top-10 finalist, the first for the Saints since 2017, and earned Second-Team All-ECAC Hockey honors.
Backing the Scarlet and Brown on defense, Bahl finished the season with four goals and four assists for eight points and scored three game winners, including the overtime goal vs. Penn State advancing the Saints to the NCAA Regional Quarterfinals. She also blocked 39 shots for the Scarlet and Brown. Jefferies tallied four goals and added six assists for 10 points and ranked third on the team with 48 blocked shots.
St. Lawrence celebrates 50 years of women's hockey in 2024-25 and opens the season with an exhibition game vs. Colgate on Saturday, September 21 at 3 p.m. for Laurentian Weekend.
