POTSDAM — Twenty-five groups of competitors braved the cold weather and dry snow to make their snow creations at Frosty Fest Saturday.

Ives Park came alive with a variety of sculptures, from penguins, a turtle, frog, cat, dog and whale shark, to Stitch, Rubik’s cube and the solar system.

Several snowmen also appeared, including a trooper snowman created by a Potsdam police officer and two state troopers.

The event drew over 100 people, including those who came to see the snow sculptures, roast marshmallows, drink hot cocoa and warm up by the fire.

Prizes were awarded for People’s Choice, Best In "Snow," Most Artistic, Most Comedic, and Most “North Country.”

Prizes were donated by Big Spoon Kitchen, The Airport Diner, SLC Arts Council, North Country Children’s Museum, and the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce.

Snacks and s’mores were donated by Price Chopper, and free hot beverages were donated by Jernabi Coffeehouse.

Frosty Fest was hosted by the SLC Arts Council, North Country Children’s Museum, and the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce.

The public is encouraged to visit Ives Park to see the snow sculptures in the coming week.
