First Sergeant Michael Snell, a retired State Police officer, was laid to rest on May 29 with hundreds gathering to pay their respects in Potsdam.
In attendance were Superintendent of State Police Steven James and Brent Davison, both of whom called the loss of Snell "a devastating loss for the fraternal family of law enforcement.
James said "gave his whole" in serving his community, including during 9/11 recovery and cleanup efforts.
Snell was at ground zero on multiple occasions following the attacks, including multiple stints in 2022, according to Davison.
Davison served personally with Snell and said he was a "humble and kind man" who was a very community focused officer.
