Shirley A. Sochia, 90, Hopkinton

HOPKINTON -- Shirley A. Sochia, 90, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at United Helpers Maplewood in Canton.

Shirley was born in Hopkinton on December 13, 1933, daughter of the late Wilfred and Myrtle (Clark) Stacy, Sr., one of eight children.

She retired from PACES at SUNY in Potsdam after many years. The marriage to Eli Sochia ended in divorce.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheila and David Gardner of Dekalb Junction, four sons, Gilbert Sochia of Hopkinton, Wayne and Piper Sochia of Hopkinton, Kevin Sochia and Cindy Groody of Parishville, and Loren and Maria Sochia of Parishville, one sister, Sandra and Keith Dyke of Myrtle Beach, SC, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one son, Darcy Sochia, grandchildren, Ian Gardner and Jordan Sochia, great granddaughter, Angel Katina Sochia, two sisters, Lorice Ibey and Beatrice Rouselle, and four brothers, Wilfred Stacy, Jr., Merton Stacy, Donald Stacy and Malcolm Stacy.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 13th at 3 pm at Hopkinton-Ft. Jackson Cemetery in Hopkinton.
