Ribbon cutting at newly remodeled Potsdam Walmart Supercenter moved to May 23

Updated to report ribbon cutting date at Potsdam Walmart changed to May 23.

POTSDAM – A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the remodeled Potsdsam Walmart store set Friday, May 17, has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 23, at 9 a.m.

The event will also feature vendors, giveaways and food trucks.

"Walmart is committed to providing a better shopping experience for our Potsdam customers," said Jeff Bonno, store manager. "We're thrilled to unveil a range of new, in-store features, and we couldn’t have done it without the dedication of our associates and store leadership team. This investment underscores our commitment to Upstate New York communities."

Walmart will also reinforce the store’s dedication to the Potsdam community by noting donations to three area non-profit organizations – $500 to Renewal House, Renewal House, Canton, $500 to the North Country Children’s Museum, Potsdam, , and $1,000 to the West Potsdam Fire Department.

During the reopening celebration – which will honor 22 associates who were part of the original grand opening in 2008 – Bonno will highlight the transformations at the store, including new, interactive features now available to customers. These include:

  •     New products and categories: Expanded departments, new apparel brands, and more.
  •     Expanded beverage and foods: New offerings, expanded sections, and improved layout.
  •     Reconfigured store layout: Providing more convenient access to well-shopped areas.
  •     Expanded pharmacy and updates to the vision center.
  •     Refreshed interior and exterior: Includes new paint and signage for easier navigation through the stores.
  •     Lighting enhancements: New fixtures and LED lighting for better line-of-sight and easier navigation.

Walmart customers may also save time and money by shopping when, where, and how they want. The Potsdam store will continue to offer the following innovations:

  •     Pickup – Walmart’s Pickup option has become a favorite among busy shoppers. It provides the convenience of online shopping and allows them to quickly collect groceries without stepping from their vehicles. The best part is that Walmart Grocery Pickup is completely free of charge. In addition, customers using SNAP have the option, in most states, to avail themselves of the pickup service.
  •     Delivery - Walmart’s convenient delivery service is also a hit with customers. Further, Walmart has now made both pickup and delivery contact-free. And with express delivery, customers may have their deliveries arrive in less than two hours.
  •     Walmart Pay – A touch-free way to pay.

To take advantage of these Walmart shopping features, customers may download the Walmart app through either Apple Store or Google Play.
