Rensselaer Falls Fire and Rescue marks milestones, honors longtime members at banquet

RENSSELAER FALLS — Rensselaer Falls Fire and Rescue held its Annual Banquet on Saturday, March 29, 2025 to celebrate 2024.

A great time was had by all and the department celebrated many individuals:

  • Deceased members: Claude Palmer and Shelly Planty
  • Active member: Bob Poor for 70 years of service
  • Active Auxiliary Member: Dona Brown for 60 years of service

Other awards given out:

  • Justin Plourde - One Year of Service from the Auxiliary
  • Beverly Murray - One Year of Service from the Auxiliary
  • Linda Soulia - 20 Years of Service from the Auxiliary
  • Dona Brown – 60 Years of Service from the Auxiliary
  • Checks were presented to Dallas Denny, Fire Department Chief, and Scott Rivers, EMS Captain from

fundraising during 2024

  • James Blackburn, Rescue Squad Secretary, 15 Years of Service with the Rescue Squad
  • Kevin Poor and Devan Storie, Fire Department Members, Driver of the Year Awards from the Rescue

  • Devan Storie and Kevin Poor, Fire Department Members, EMS Chief's Awards from the Rescue Squad
  • Devan Storie - One Year of Service from the Fire Department
  • Corey Barney, Fire Department 1st Assistant Chief - Five Years of Service from the Fire Department
  • Katie Venette - Five Years of Service from the Fire Department
  • William Newcombe - Fifteen Years of Service from the Fire Department
  • Dallas Denny, Fire Department Chief, Twenty-Five Years of Service from the Fire Department
  • Jeff Dollinger, Fire Department Treasurer, Thirty Years of Service from the Fire Department
  • Jeff Hammond - 45 Years of Service from the Fire Department
  • Roger Newcombe - 45 Years of Service from the Fire Department
  • Bob Poor - 70 Years of Service from the Fire Department
  • Karin Blackburn, Fire Department Secretary, Chief's Award from the Fire Department

Kevin Wells with Senator Dan Stec’s Office was in attendance to read a proclamation for Bob Poor’s 70 Years of Service, and Assemblyman Scott Gray’s Office also provided a proclamation from the Assembly in honor of his 70 Years of Service.

A memorial was put up to celebrate Claude Palmer and Shelly Planty.
