POTSDAM— Richard Scott Foster, 28, of Potsdam, was charged Tuesday, March 11 with one count first-degree criminal contempt for allegedly disobeying an order of protection, Potsdam Police say.
Village police report that Foster was charged following investigation of a domestic incident on Leroy Street in the village of Potsdam, during which he allegedly violated an existing order of protection by physically shoving the protected party during a dispute.
Foster was reportedly taken into custody and arraigned in Norfolk town court, after which he was released on his own recognizance.
A new order of protection was issued in favor of the victim. Foster is due to return to Potsdam town court at a later date.
