To the Editor:
My name is Don Lozo. I grew up in Potsdam and I'm a 1983 high school graduate.
I recently read an article about this years summer camp fees increasing to the extent of some families not being able to afford to send their children.
This concerned me to the point of contacting Lina-Ikedo-Britton, the camp rec leader, about me personally wanting to donate funds to help families that may be in need. I spoke to Lina about wanting to set up a fund raiser and writing a letter to North Country Now to help spread the word to the community, past and present.
Potsdam is a wonderful community and I have very fond memories of growing up there! I want to give back to my hometown and hope this letter will inspire those who can afford to contribute, in any amount, so that every single child that wants to attend summer camp can do so.
Checks can me made out and sent to:
Village of Potsdam, 2 Park St, Potsdam, NY 13676.
Please be sure to include "Summer Camp Donation” in the memo line of your check.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions at dlozo@globaltranz.com or 336-687-4194 or Lina at recreation@vi.potsdam.ny.us
Thank you everyone in advance for your support, let’s raise some money for the kids!
