Brookfield Renewable U.S. will commence with a construction project at the Sugar Island Hydropower facility that will necessitate the closure of a portion of the Red Sandstone Trail as well as the access road located near the surge tank and powerhouse.
This closure affects the portion of the northernmost portion of trail which leads to the Sugar Island Day Use Area. The Northern Terminus parking lot and other portions of the trail will remain open. Work is scheduled to begin on Friday, Aug. 9 and is anticipated to be completed by Friday, Oct. 18.
Due to weather conditions, the schedule is subject to change without prior notice.
Please use caution and wear a personal flotation device when recreating on or near water. Pay close attention to your surroundings and respect all signage, sirens and barriers.
