OGDENSBURG- A visitation for Peter A. Bellinger, 76, of Ogdensburg will be held on Monday, April 14th, 2025 from 4-7pm at Frary Funeral Home in Ogdensburg. In keeping with Peter’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Mr. Bellinger died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at home.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
Peter A. Bellinger was born on July 12, 1948 in Watertown, NY. He was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Grey) Bellinger. He was a 1966 graduate of Sackets Harbor High School and a 1971 Graduate of St. Lawrence University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Following his graduation, he worked as a Counselor in Jay, NY, deep in the Adirondack region.
He later relocated to Watertown where he worked as an insurance agent, then for a time with Truax Insurance in Lisbon. On April 20th, 1982 he married Andrea Shortreed at the Sacred Heart Church in Watertown. The couple founded Maple City Insurance Agency in 1983. A business that Peter would operate for four decades before handing the reins to his son Peter “Tom” Bellinger. Peter loved the St. Lawrence River, fishing and boating were some of his favorite pastimes.
He was a supporter of North Country Public Radio and a fan of the Boston Celtics. Watching his grandchildren’s sporting events gave him great joy. He enjoyed playing music on his guitar, harmonica and piano. Peter was a father, son, brother, coach, neighbor and friend, who will be remembered for his good nature, generous spirit and his love of Ogdensburg.
He is survived by his sons; Peter “Tom” Bellinger and his wife Elaine of Ogdensburg, Robert “Jake” Bellinger and his wife Angela of Cape Vincent, his partner Ann Perry, his grandchildren; Jack, Julie, Charlee, Oliver and Penelope Bellinger, all of whom he adored. His siblings Steven Bellinger of Texas, Joseph Bellinger of Florida and Christina Grabb of Sodus Point, NY also survive him with too many cousins, nieces and nephews to count, to whom he will always be remembered as "Uncle Pete"."
He was predeceased by his wife Andrea Bellinger on September 21, 2014 and his brother Jim Marvin.
