OGDENSBURG - Paul G. Montpetit, age 91, of Ogdensburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Canton Potsdam Hospital.

In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public services. Entombment will take place at the Oswegatchie Mausoleum.

Paul will be remembered with love and respect by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter Jane Montpetit of Ogdensburg; his sister Sheila Munro of Ogdensburg; his granddaughter Megan Montpetit; and daughter-in-law Christina Montpetit of Ogdensburg. Also surviving are nieces Mary Polniak, Kris McGrath, and Tina Keller, all of Ogdensburg, and Donna (Bob) Rogala of Syracuse; and nephew John Silver of Kentucky.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marilyn in 2008; son Paul "Butch" Montpetit in 2020; a brother John Montpetit in 1995; and a sister Audrey McGrath in 2020.

Paul was born on November 6, 1933, in Ogdensburg, the son of the late John and Ella (Gilbert) Montpetit. He was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1950 to 1954. On October 31, 1954, he married Marilyn Hayes.

Paul worked for many years as a machinist with Acco Brands until his retirement. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed a wide range of activities, including hunting, fishing, riding his bicycle, and chatting with neighbors. He especially treasured his time spent with family, and his regular coffee hours with friends at McDonald's brought him great joy.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Notre Dame Heritage Fund, 125 Ford Avenue, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
