OGDENSBURG -- The City of Ogdensburg is looking for a deputy city clerk.
It's one of several positions the city has open including recreation director, six police officer positions and city planner.
City council agreed to fill the position which had been left vacant for years. However, City Manager Fonda Chronis acknowledged that the city clerk position needed additional support.
In a news release, the city said the position is "an important administrative position involving responsibility for executing the critical functions of city government."
According to the notice applicants must have the ability to handle "multiple responsibilities in a deadline driven environment where confidentiality, attention to detail and flexibility are imperative."
The notice also states there will be considerable contact with the public and local officials involved with the execution of this position’s primary duties."
The starting salary is $54,000 to $57,000, depending on qualifications with a fringe benefit package including NYS retirement and platinum-level health insurance significantly covered by the City.
Applicants must be a resident of the corporate city limits of the City of Ogdensburg, graduation from high school or the possession of a high school equivalency diploma and five years of full-time paid work experience in a responsible administrative position with preference given for candidates with a legal background.
The position also requires passing the New York State Notary Public examination within six months of appointment.
