Ogdensburg Library receives needed lift

Construction has begun for a new lift and enclosure for access to the Ogdensburg Public Library from the outside. ‘We have a lift that was not compatible to our weather and kept breaking down.  The solution was to put an addition on the building and enclose the new lift,’ said Library Director Penny Kerfien. Northern Tier Construction, of Gouverneur, is the contractor for the building.The lift, itself, will be from Northstar Lifts. The completion date is by July 1, 2025, if the weather cooperates. It is funded by  several sources: a bestowment from a former patron, a matching grant from Northern New York Community Foundation, The Friends of the Library and other donations.
