OGDENSBURG— The Ogdensburg Public Library has enhanced its handicapped accessibility with the installation of a lift.
The installation was celebrated by Assemblyman Scott Gray, (R-Watertown) who joined community members at the library on Aug. 27.
The project was made possible in part through an aid grant from Gray as well as the generous support of local donors and organizations, and helps ensure every resident can access the library’s resources and programs.
“The Ogdensburg Public Library is a place where the community comes together, and it’s important that everyone, no matter their mobility, can come through those doors and feel welcome,” Gray said.
“I’m grateful I could help support this project with an aid grant, and I know this lift will make a real difference for residents for many years to come.”
The completion of this project was a community effort, with additional funding and support provided by the bequest of Brendan M. Lynch, the Northern New York Community Foundation, the Daughters of the American Revolution – Swe-Kat-Si Chapter and numerous private donors and community volunteers.
“This project wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity and hard work of so many: our local organizations, volunteers and donors. Seeing everyone come together for something that benefits the whole community is incredibly rewarding, and I’m thankful to be part of it,” Gray said.
