WADDINGTON — An Ogden family burial vault was allegedly damaged by an excavator Wednesday, according to state police.
Troopers responding to Brookside Cemetery for a criminal mischief complaint determined a Caterpillar 309 excavator was on cemetery property for a landscaping project.
The excavator reportedly was left overnight for use the next day.
Police said the excavator was used in the early morning hours to cause excessive damage to the Ogden family burial vault.
Troopers said the damage was only to the Ogden family burial vault, and there was no other damage observed to other burial stones on the property.
