CANTON – The St. Lawrence County Public Health Department (SLCPHD) welcomes a new addition of Jamie Gibson, MS, FNP, to its clinic team. Gibson will be working on our STI clinics. She brings over two decades of nursing experience, a strong academic background, and a deep commitment to community health.
Gibson began her career in 2004 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital (CPH), where she developed her clinical foundation before expanding her practice to Gouverneur Hospital. She worked for SLCPHD from 2007 to 2013 before pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing Education at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica. During this time, she also served as an Assistant Professor of Nursing, helping educate the next generation of healthcare providers.
In 2017, Gibson returned to CPH, where she continued to serve patients while furthering her education. She earned her Family Nurse Practitioner Post-Master’s Certificate from SUNY Binghamton, which equipped her with the advanced training necessary to serve patients across their lifespans with a focus on preventative care and chronic disease management.
“We are thrilled to welcome Jamie Gibson to our team,” said Erin Streiff, Director of St. Lawrence County Public Health Department. “Her clinical expertise, academic background, and dedication to improving public health outcomes will be invaluable as we continue our work in infectious disease prevention and response.”
Gibson’s appointment strengthens SLCPHD, ensuring continued excellence in disease surveillance, treatment, and education throughout the community.
The Public Health Department’s clinic is located at 80 US Highway 310, Canton, NY 13617. STI and HIV testing are available by appointment only; call 315-386-2325 to schedule.
