CANTON — A public rally is set to take place in Canton on Saturday, June 14, as part of a nationwide mobilization aimed at protesting what organizers describe as increasing authoritarianism and political corruption associated with former President Donald Trump and his allies.
The event, titled “No Kings,” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and is organized by North Country Neighbors for Civic Engagement. Participants will gather in the 21 Miner Street parking lot, where the program will begin with brief remarks from guest speakers. Following the speeches, attendees will march to Main Street, where they will line the sidewalks with protest signs.
Organizers say the event is one of many taking place across the country under the same banner.
“We’re showing up everywhere to say: no thrones, no crowns, no kings,” organizers stated in promotional materials for the event.
The rally is open to the public, and participants are encouraged to bring signs in support of democratic principles and in opposition to authoritarian rule.
