MASSENA -- Michael J. Mittiga, age 84, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at North Country Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena.
Calling hours will be held on Monday June 24, 2024, at the Church of the Sacred Heart from 9:30am until the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery, Louisville at the convenience of the family.
“Mickey”, as he was fondly known by, was born on September 16, 1939, in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of the late Roy and Jennie (Kiah) Mittiga.
He graduated from Massena High School in 1958.
Mickey was employed for 10 years with the Village of Massena, and retired from UPS after 11 years of service as a senior clerk, he also worked part time for the Phillips Memorial Home for over 30 years as a faithful ambassador.
He was an avid Massena High School football and hockey fan and was the New York Yankees No. 1 fan.
He also had a certain knowledge for knowing the make, model and year of vintage cars, but his special love was for an Oldsmobile.
He also enjoyed attending class reunions and monthly class dinners.
He is survived by his sister, Sharon Phillips, of Jacksonville, NC, and many cousins.
