MASSENA — The 14U Massena River Queens, who won the Tier II State Girls Hockey Championship March 9, are seeking financial contributions so the team can travel to the upcoming Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
The team includes players from Massena, Norfolk, North Lawrence, Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Brasher, Potsdam and Canton.
These wishing to contribute financially are asked to visit www.massenaminorhockey.com/donate or reach out to the team parents.
The financial support will assist with travel, accommodations, and other necessities for the team.
Despite being the underdogs and having a much smaller team than the others in the tournament, the River Queens beat the CP Dynamo 4-3 at the Tier II championship in Amherst. It was only the sixth time a Massena girls’ team has claimed the state title since 1980.
The Nationals in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the week of April 2, represents more than just a competition. It is an opportunity for team members to experience growth and personal development, foster teamwork and camaraderie, compete at the highest level, and create lifelong memories.
Team members are also asking the community to share their story and encourage friends and family to contribute or attend fundraising events for the team.
