MASSENA – The Massena Baptist Church has officially opened a Community Clothes Closet, providing affordable clothing to local residents in need. The initiative, led by Diane Shearer and her husband, the church’s pastor, has been serving the community through quarterly clothing giveaways for the past four years.
Now operating as a permanent resource, the Community Clothes Closet is open Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon, with plans to expand hours in the future. Clothing is available for a suggested donation of $0.50 for children’s items and $1 for adult items, though the church ensures that anyone in need receives assistance regardless of their ability to pay.
Donations of clean, unstained clothing are accepted during operating hours, with a limit of two bags per visit. All proceeds from the Clothes Closet support Operation Christmas Child, an initiative that provides holiday gifts to children overseas.
For more details, including updates on hours, visit the MBC Community Clothes Closet Facebook page. Questions can be directed to the church at (315) 769-0898 or through Facebook messages.
