Massena Arena now has a new scoreboard, thanks to a purchase from SeaComm Federal Credit Union’s Community Outreach Program.
The previous scoreboard had been at Massena Arena since 1993, after it was purchased from Clarkson University.
The lights / numbers on the scoreboard were not appearing properly anymore due to age, making it difficult for spectators to view, said Mike McCabe, Massena Recreation Director.
“The Massena Arena and Massena Recreation would like to thank Scott Wilson, President of SeaComm Federal Credit Union, and all the staff at Sea-Comm that made this very generous gift to the arena happen,” said McCabe.
“The arena is central to recreation in the winter months in Massena, and we are extremely grateful for the new centerpiece overhead of the ice surface. The spectators to all of the Massena Minor Hockey and Massena Central School games will be very appreciative of the new addition to the arena,” said McCabe.
“Hockey is a legacy sport in Massena spanning generations of youth. Our support for the new scoreboard at the Massena Arena extends our ongoing commitment to youth hockey from mites and bantams to high school varsity. We are so proud to be a part of this fundamental sport in Massena,” said SeaComm President Scott Wilson.
