POTSDAM – A Potsdam man charged last week with desecrating a cemetery in Waddington and allegedly setting two fires now faces two additional arson charges in connection with two fires at a residence on County Route 35, Town of Potsdam
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's detectives charged Jonathan Buffham, 35, with Arson 2nd (B Felony), Reckless Endangerment 1st (D Felony), after an investigation into a suspicious fire on June 13. During the course of the investigation it was found that Buffham intentionally started a fire at the residence with a female victim inside.
Additionally Buffham was also charged with Arson 3rd (C Felony) after a second fire was reported at the same residence on June 21.
Buffham was arraigned in Waddington Town Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 bail. The St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the New York State Police, St. Lawrence County Cause and Origin Investigation Team, and New York State Fire.
