MADRID – The 2025 class leaders at Madrid-Waddington Central School included students who have achieved the designation of Cum Laude - “with distinction,” earning a grade point average of 90-92.
Gabriel Ashley: Gabe is the son of Edith and Phil Ashley. Gabe will attend SUNY Canton and then go to the ESF Ranger School in Wanakena. He is a member of the National Technical Honor Society and attends the Natural Resource Management program at the Northwest Technical Center. Gabe has been an active participant in E-Sports, soccer, and track and field. In addition to his school commitments, Gabe is also active in his church community, where he regularly volunteers his time. During the summers, Gabe works as a freelancer, meaning that he will do various jobs for people in the community. Gabriel has earned a New York State Regents diploma with the CTE endorsement.
Brody Baldwin: Brody is the son of Kelly and Christina Baldwin. Brody will attend SUNY Canton in the fall and plans on majoring in E-Sports Management. Brody will receive a New York State Advanced Regents diploma. His academic achievements are further highlighted by his active participation in the National Honor Society and the Natural Resource Management program. He is an avid participant in E-Sports and plans to continue this passion at the collegiate level. Brody is working diligently on his Eagle Scout certification, a testament to his perseverance and commitment to personal growth. As a Senior Patrol Leader for Boy Scouts and a member of the Order of the Arrow, the Honor Society of the Boy Scouts, he has demonstrated outstanding leadership and a strong moral compass. Brody has received the following awards: Sage Student Award, was nominated for the Augsbury Scholarship and has received numerous awards through the Boys Scouts of America. He has earned the Admitted Students Day Scholarship from SUNY Canton.
Lydia Baxter: Lydia is the daughter of Nicole Baxter. She plans on attending SUNY Potsdam in the fall and majoring in English Education and would like to become a high school English teacher. She has been a member of the National Honor Society, is consistently on the High Honor Roll and has earned the Bonnie Scholarship from St. Bonaventure, and the SUNY Potsdam Merit Scholarship. She has also participated in multiple clubs including the History Club and The Nest, a student support group, where she has consistently demonstrated her ability to collaborate and lead her peers. She has been selected to participate in the prestigious Area All State Select Music Festival in year’s past and has been an active member of the Band, Chorus, Select Chorus, Stage Band, and Stardust. Lydia is President of the Drama Club and Vice President of the Tri-M Music Honor Society during her senior year and she has contributed significantly to our school’s Fall production and Spring Musicals, showcasing her passion and dedication to the arts. She served as the Freshman Class Treasurer and has participated in the cheerleading squad and the volleyball team. Her ability to balance these commitments, along with a variety of parttime jobs, highlights her strong work ethic and time management skills. Lydia has earned an Advanced Regents diploma.
Parker Bogart: Parker is the son of Patty and Toby Bogart. He participates in the Metalworking program at Northwest Technical Center. He is a member of the National Technical Honor Society. He is active in the golf program at Madrid- Waddington playing for the past four years. He spends most of his time working for himself as a car detailer, and is a member of the Waddington Junior Firefighters. He is an avid hunter and fisherman. He has worked for various area farms and enjoys being outdoors. After high school, Parker will be employed by Seaway Timber Harvesting as a diesel mechanic. He has earned a Regents diploma with the CTE endorsement.
Courtnie Ingraham: Courtnie is the daughter of Mike and Casi Ingraham. Courtnie will attend SUNY Plattsburgh in the fall and major in Early Childhood Education. She is currently participating in the prestigious New Visions Education Program, a rigorous one-year program for high school seniors with a passion for education. Through this program, she has not only embraced the academic challenge but has also excelled in earning college credits while still in high school. She holds leadership roles as Vice President of the Key Club, Yearbook Treasurer and President, and Varsity Volleyball Team Captain. She is a dedicated member of the National Honor Society, Outing Club, Varsity Club, Key Club and Yearbook. Courtnie participated in Varsity Volleyball and Track and Field. Courtnie applied her skills beyond the classroom through a paid internship with the St. Lawrence County Youth Bureau which she was selected last summer from a long list of eligible applicants. During the school year, she works at the School Fitness Center and the school cafeteria. Courtnie has earned an Advanced Regents diploma.
Jasmine Jessmer: Jasmine is the daughter of Phil and Stacie Jessmer. Jasmine will attend Husson University in Bangor, Maine to study nursing with plans to then become a Cardiologist. She was awarded the President’s Academic Scholarship and the Pine Tree Scholarship through Husson University. While in high school, Jasmine has participated in National Honor Society, has been a class officer, and is a member of the Outing Club and Varsity Club. She has played softball, is a member of the Varsity Girls Soccer team, plays Ice Hockey and runs Track. She works a summer job as a Maintenance worker at the local state park and works as a waitress. This year, Jasmine is spending half of her day at the local BOCES technical center in the New Visions Medical program. This is a pre- college professional program where high school students spend time in class developing the skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the field of healthcare. Jasmine has earned an Advanced Regents diploma.
Weston Kitzman: Weston is the son of Kevin and Lisa Kitzman. Weston will attend Ithaca College in the fall and major in the Athletic Training program. He is an esteemed member of the National Honor Society and the Varsity Club. Weston was captain of the Boys Varsity Soccer team and participated in basketball and track and field. Beyond his athletic and academic commitments, Weston is deeply involved in his community. He is actively engaged in his church, has worked as a Sales Associate, a Youth Counselor for the Summer Recreation Program in Waddington, and a short order Cook. These roles have equipped him with valuable skills in communication, leadership, and responsibility. Weston’s dedication to sportsmanship and fair play was recognized when he received the All Northern Sportsmanship Award for Soccer. Weston has earned an Advanced Regents diploma.
Baylie Skinner: Baylie is the daughter of Cody and Courtney Skinner. Baylie will be attending Oklahoma State University pursuing a degree in Agricultural Systems Technology. Baylie achieved Honor Roll throughout high school, including High Honor Roll through her Agricultural Academy Studies this year. Baylie is a two-sport athlete in both Volleyball and Softball. She is a member of chorus, Area Allstate, band Tri-M, and the nest. Baylie has volunteered in her community for the St. Lawrence Chamber of Commerce at the BassMasters. Baylie has worked as a babysitter. Baylie has earned an Advanced Regents diploma.
Kendall Thompson: Kendall is the daughter of Troy and Mindy Thompson. Kendall will be attending SUNY Potsdam for Exercise Science. Kendall attends the New Visions Medical program at Northwest Technical Center. Kendall achieved Honor Roll throughout high school. She is a two sport athlete in both Soccer and Softball. Kendall was the captain of the Soccer and Softball team. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Varsity Club. Kendall is both the President and the Treasurer of the Varsity Club. Kendall lifeguards in the summer and volunteers her time with the youth softball program. Kendall was awarded the Dean’s scholarship for her academic achievement from SUNY Potsdam. Kendall has earned an Advanced Regents diploma.
