CANTON -- The Local Living Venture will host a series of events over the next few months. 

Scheduled are: 

  • June 14, 1-4 p.m. Honey Bee Hive Inspection Field Day, Winthrop;
  • June 15, 2-4 p.m. Edible Food Forest Tour, Wellesley Island;
  • June 21, (date changed) 1-3 p.m. Composting Basics: Home Food Waste, Potsdam;
  • July 12, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Visit us at Potsdam SummerFest, Market Street, Potsdam;
  • Sept. 7, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. What is a Forest Garden & How Can You Create One, St. Lawrence Nurseries, Potsdam; and
  • Every month (last Wednesday, 7 p.m.) Bees & Beekeeping Group gatherings, upstairs Community Room, 80 E. Main St., Canton.

Local Living Venture is a 501(c)(3) community-based non-profit organization in the St. Lawrence River Valley, dedicated to sharing resourceful living skills, in town and in the countryside.

Focus areas include small-scale renewable energy, forests/firewood/heating, green building, wild pollinators and beekeeping, and real food in all of its forms - growing, cooking, preserving, eating, composting, and more.

The organization is funded solely on local donations and driven by volunteer efforts.
