CANTON – A Lisbon man was sentenced to 35 years to life today, Sept. 25, for his convictions of rape and sexual abuse against a child, reported St. Lawrence County District Attorney Gary M. Pasqua in an emailed press release.
Douglas Monroe, 37, was sentenced to an aggregate term of 35 years to life in prison for his convictions following his July trial in St. Lawrence County Court.
On July 21, the defendant was convicted of one count of Predatory Sexual Assault upon a Child, two counts of second-degree rape, and one count of first-degree sexual abuse.
Evidence at trial established that between 2020 and 2022, the defendant perpetrated multiple acts of rape and sexual abuse against a child with whom he was acquainted, Pasqua stated.
D.A. Pasqua commended the work of Assistant District Attorneys Matthew Peabody and Dominik Maida, the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's office and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on the case at the time of the convictions.
