PARISHVILLE – Joyce J. Planty, 91, of Sylvan Falls Road, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 24, 2024 at her home under the loving care of her daughters and Hospice of St. Lawrence Valley
Joyce was born January 29, 1933 at Sterling Pond in the Town of Parishville, the daughter of the late Walter and Amanda (Lottie) Wilson. She grew up in the Sterling Pond area and attended rural schools in Parishville.
She married Bernard Tebo on December 6, 1950, he sadly predeceased her on January 28, 1969. On June 5, 1976, she married Raymond P. Planty. Raymond predeceased her on January 28, 1993.
Joyce was a homemaker, who dedicated her time and care to others. She also operated a food stand at her home for many years. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards, bowling, horses, and was always ready to cook for others.
Joyce was also dedicated many years to the Hillcrest Cemetery Association in Parishville, serving as their President for several years.
Joyce is survived by her children, Donna (John) Smith of Parishville, Bernard (Karen) Tebo of North Fort Myers, Florida, Debbie (James) Planty of Warren, Ohio, and Jackie (Doug) LaRose of Parishville; her grandchildren, Tony, Brian, Vicki, Tracy, Mike, Buddy, Matt, Kevin, and Jessica; her great grandchildren, Alex, Miranda, Alina, Aliza, Jade, Trevor, Kayden, Katelyn, Ian, Lilly, Veron Jr., Alice, Hailey, Collin, Nora, Katie, and Alexis; and her great-great grandchildren, Mia Joyce and Haidyn.
She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Harper of Potsdam; her brothers, Lloyd (Jean) Wilson of Hopkinton, and Kenneth (Ruth) Wilson of Colton; numerous nieces and nephews; her stepson, Mike (Deb) Planty of Montana; her step-grandchildren, Jeremy, Donna, and Tammy; her step great grandchildren, William, Taylor, Jake, Claire, Kayla, Courtney, and Josh; and her step great-great granddaughter, Isabella.
In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was predeceased by a stepson, Steve Planty; a step grandson, Steven Planty; and her siblings, Ernestine Lee, Betty Kingsley, Barbara Trombley, Donald, Ronald, Robert, Louie, Sumner, and Floyd Wilson.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of the Donaldson-Seymour Funeral Home, Potsdam, however there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 29 at 11:00 AM in the Hopkinton-Fort Jackson Cemetery with Rev. Lee Sweeney, officiating.
