John R. Morley, Ogdensburg

OGDENSBURG - John R Morley of Ogdensburg, New York, passed away on Sunday February 2, in Vermont, after a short battle with Cancer.

John was a man of integrity, intelligence, hard work and compassion. By no means a shy person, he was a quick-witted, entertaining storyteller, and would talk to everyone because “you never know what their story is.” He fought for social justice and was an expert debater. John enjoyed meeting new people and was the life of the party. He found happiness in traveling, appreciated a good beach day and above all else he loved his family. He was the best grampa ever to his 7 grandchildren: Jacob, Abby, Jessica, Oakley, Glory, Mercy and Grace. John had a way of making difficult situations seem manageable and the insurmountable feel small. His sense of humor could cut through even the thickest tensions.

As we all feel a deep sense of loss, we remember one of Dad’s famous quotes, “It’ll be an adventure, you’ve never even done this before!”

John is survived by his daughters Jessica Morley and Gennifer Morley, his sister Wendy Morley, and his brother Steve Morley. He was preceded in death by his wife Anne (St.Louis) Morley, son Mark Morley, his parents Connie and Donald Morley, and his brother Don Morley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday February 23, 2025 from 12:30 to 4:30pm EST in the Reef Room at HULA, 50 Lakeside Ave in Burlington, VT. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the McClure Miller Respite House.
