MORRISTOWN -- John R. Barse, 61, of Morristown died on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with Cancer.
In keeping with his wishes there will be no public funeral services.
Arrangements are under the direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg.
John R. Barse was born on March 18, 1964, in Ogdensburg, NY.
He was the son of the late Phillip C. and Ruth (Fisher) Barse.
He was a 1983 graduate of Morristown Central School.
He worked for NMC for a few years before going to work for the Morristown School District. A career that would last 30 years until his retirement in 2023 as the Building, Grounds and Transportation Supervisor.
On July 29, 1995, he married Laura Baker in Lisbon.
John proudly served his community as a FireFighter on the Morristown Volunteer Fire Department for 43 years.
He enjoyed fishing, carpentry and working outdoors. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family and spending time with his grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Barse, his daughters; MacKenzie Rheome and her husband Brendan of Morristown and Savanna Barse and her companion Robert Reynolds of Morristown and his grandchildren, Tyrion and Sophie. His brothers; Earl Barse and his wife Cindy of Morristown and Fred Barse and his wife Denise of Morristown, his sisters; Agnes Myott of Evans Mills and Jean McLear and her husband Patrick also survive him. He is survived by his brothers-in-law Dale (Laurie) Baker and Dean (Melissa) Baker and his sisters-in-law Nancy (Dan) Lafaver and Katherine Barse along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brothers; William and Phillip Barse.
